DIRECTOR, CENTER FOR MOLECULAR AND BEHAVIORAL NEUROSCIENCE, RUTGERS UNIVERSITY-NEWARK
The Center for Molecular and Behavioral Neurosciences (CMBN) at Rutgers, Newark was created a quarter of a century ago and has grown into a leading research center in Neuroscience, with a solid group of world-class faculty whose research spans systems, behavioral, and computational neuroscience, with methodological approaches as varied as electrophysiology, neuropharmacology, and functional imaging. Moreover, Neuroscience research on the Rutgers Newark campus is growing with hires in social and affective neuroscience in the Department of Psychology, cellular neuroscience in the Department of Biology, and the recent establishment of an interdepartmental Rutgers Brain Imaging Center.
CMBN is ready to move into a new era with new opportunities and a new vision. A number of faculty positions have opened up, and this presents an opportunity to rebuild and reconfigure CMBN. Rutgers Newark therefore invites applications for the position of Director of CMBN to guide this transition. We are seeking a world class leader in neuroscience to direct CMBN and to integrate the existing expertise and facilities into an even more impressive neuroscience community.

Neuroinformatics combines neuroscience and informatics research to develop and
apply computational tools and approaches that are essential for understanding
the structure and function of the brain.
The Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctoral Program “EuroSPIN” (European Study Programme
in Neuroinformatics) is inviting applications from students having a solid
background in mathematics, physics, computer sciences, biochemistry or neuroscience
(on a master level or equivalent), in all cases with computer science skills.
Documented interest in research like activities (e.g. demonstrated in the form of
master thesis work, or participation in research related activities) is of large
importance. Also fluency in English is requested.

O Neuro Bureau é uma iniciativa colaborativa de apoio à “neurociência aberta”, abraçando a ideia de que dados, métodos e ideias podem ser compartilhados livremente.
A International Neuroimaging Data-sharing Initiative (INDI) tem por objetivo estimular o compartilhamento ativo de dados pela comunidade internacional de pesquisadores em neuroimagem e neurociência em geral.
O objetivo do colóquio é levar artistas, intelectuais, produtores culturais e também acadêmicos e estudantes universitários à atualização e à discussão interdisciplinar acerca das bases epistemológicas, artísticas e científicas em torno da percepção humana. Como percebemos nossas expressões de arte, nosso conhecimento, nossos sonhos? Em formato alternativo, marcado por “desconferências”, debates e oficinas, convidamos o público a vasculhar os bastidores da percepção humana.

The Centro Studi e Ricerche “Enrico Fermi” in Roma (Italy) has been since many years involved on a very challenging project about the feasibility of the direct detection of neuronal currents using NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) at Larmor fields of the order of the earth magnetic field (~50 microT). This technique, named Direct Neuronal Imaging or DNI, would be a new potential functional imaging modality of the brain, and will be based on the direct measurement of the ultra-weak magnetic fields induced by the neuronal currents around neurons by looking at ultra-weak changes in NMR signal properties.
