A full time POSTDOCTORAL POSITION is available at the Section of Systems Neuroscience, Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, Technische Universität Dresden, Germany.
A post-doctoral position is available to study the neuropharmacology of alcohol and nicotine in humans by means of brain imaging. The project is founded within the DFG Priority Program 1226. The main focus is on MR Imaging (fMRI, pharmacological MRI): Implementation of fMRI paradigms to investigate emotional, motivational and executive functions, analysis of MR data as well as the development of methods in the field of pharmacological MR imaging. Project management including supervising of PhD students, data management, publications of the results are a substantial part as well. This position can be used for further scientific qualification (e.g. Habilitation).
Our multidisciplinary group connects basic research in neuroscience to clinically applied research. In order to better understand the neural mechanisms underlying mental disorders such as addiction or depression, we investigate the function of neural systems that are essential for emotion, motivation, executive function or decision making. Within the Technische Universität Dresden, the Section of Systems Neuroscience is closely associated with the Department of Psychology and the Neuroimaging Center, which offers excellent research collaborations and infrastructure, e.g. a 3 Tesla MRI scanner for full-time research, MRI-compatible EEG, and access to the PET center at Dresden-Rossendorf.
Successful applicant should have a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in psychology, medicine, neuroscience or a related field in natural science. The ideal candidate would have excellent English language skills, experience in the field of MR physics and neuroimaging, including prior knowledge of common software (e.g. SPM or FSL, Freesurfer, Matlab, Presentation).
Furthermore, skills in computational modeling of imaging and behavioral data are preferred.
Initial funding has been secured for 29 month with the option to expand the appointment Salary is commensurate with experience according to the German public service pay scale TV-L, which includes social benefits such as health care and pension plans.
Interested applicants should send their online application with the reference number PSY0911175.
