Encontro da Sociedade Internacional de Neuroética em New Orleans 10/2012 – Resumos até 31 de julho!!

I’m writing to share with you information about the upcoming 2012 Annual Meeting of the International Neuroethics Society on October 11 and 12 (the day before the SfN Meeting) at the New Orleans Marriott, 555 Canal Street.

Nita Farahany, Professor at Duke Law School and a member of the Presidential Commission for the Study of Bioethical Issues, will give the keynote. Other topics include addiction and neuroethics, altering personhood, and animats and hybots. One conversation is on the “Future of Neuroethics” with panelists drawn from different places and generations: Martha Farah at the University of Pennsylvania, Eric Racine from McGill, Karen Rommelfanger at Emory, Verity Brown from The University of St. Andrews, and moderated by Steve Hyman from the Broad Institute. The Call for Abstracts http://www.neuroethicssociety.org/2012-call-for-abstracts remains open until July 31. In 2011 over 50 posters were selected for display at the meeting. A 500 word abstract should be submitted to administrator@neuroethicssociety.org by 5 PM EDT July 31.

· Twenty-five abstracts will be selected to be published online in AJOB Neuroscience

· Two presenters will receive $250 Travel Awards

· Five will be chosen for Oral Presentations during the Friday meeting.

· A new need-based “Michael Patterson $500 Travel Award’ is available, see details at the link.

We welcome abstracts reporting recent results in the field of neuroethics and related topics. Investigators at any career stage are encouraged to submit abstracts. Selections will be made based on content, available space and overall balance. Participants may submit the same abstract for the INS meeting as for the Society for Neuroscience Meeting.
