Ricardo Miledi Neuroscience Training Program

The Ricardo Miledi Neuroscience Training Program is open to LAC neuroscience graduate students. Course location rotates annually among colleges and universities in Latin America and Mexico.

Students selected for the training program also receive the Hugo Arechiga Fellowship, which includes SfN membership, as well as registration and travel expenses to the SfN annual meeting.

The following information applies to the 2010 program:

• Date: August16 – September 10, 2010
• Location: Instituto de Fisiología Celular – Neurosciencias, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), México D.F., México
• Course Directors: Iván Velasco, Instituto de Fisiología Celular, UNAM
• Topic: Neural development, physiology, imaging and degeneration.

The primary audience is graduate students from Latin American and the Caribbean. Applicants must be able to communicate in English, as lectures and discussions will be conducted in this language. All students will be required to present and discuss their results. Full financial support for traveling and housing expenses will be provided. In addition, a travel award to attend the 2010 Society for Neuroscience Annual Meeting, November 13-17, 2010 in San Diego, CA will be provided. A total of 15 course participants will be selected.
