This collection of video documents, photographic prints, and installation documents the collaborative dialogues that occurred over the week long ‘Waking Incubator’ in February 2010. Lead by sleep scientist Philippa Gander and performance designer Sam Trubridge these works by various New Zealand scientists and artists reflect the diverse range of discussions that evolved during this process. Their diverse forms examine concerns of subjectivity and objectivity in art/science practise, investigate circadian and body rhythmicity using intersections between dance and technology, and present various sleeping phenomena in the context of contemporary artistic and cultural discourse.
